14/04/2016 BBBB Bridle Road 5km

BBBB – Bob Bickett’s Bridle Bash 5km

The last run of the 2015/2016 summer season was held at Bridle Road in Morwell. The course started outside the high school and led runners to the end of Bridle Road before crossing over to run along Waterhole Creek in a 5km loop back to the starting line. This week 30 people came along to try the fast flat course on what turned out to be a perfect evening to run. This was a strong turnout before round 1 of the Athletics Victoria XCR season this Saturday 16th April, at which 21 Harriers will be competing.

It was fantastic to see Ray Ellis join us again for the 2.5km walk, finishing with a time of 23 minutes 30 seconds, which was over a minute quicker than last week.

Returning after a break, Eli Van Rhine showed he has lost no time and was the first male home on the handicap, finishing in 19 minutes 41 seconds. Second on the handicap for the men was Keita Matsumoto in 20:11 and the third male over the line was Tim Buckley in 28:29.

The first female home on the handicap was Michelle Colwell, who finished with a time of 29:35, second was Kayla Gallert in 21:36 and in third place was Georgia Callaway in 24:51.

Kayla Gallert proves to be a consistently fast runner, finishing with the outright quickest time for the ladies with 21:36. Second place was a tie between Jenny Northe and Karen Graham, both running a great time of 23:13, and only a minute behind was Tania Whitehead in third place, 24:24.

Finishing as the fastest outright male was again Glenn Graham with a time of 19:24. In second place was Eli Van Rhine, 19:41, doing exceptionally well after his time away and in third place for fastest outright male was Steve McLeod with a time of 20:06.

Next week we will venture back to Traralgon for the 5km Stockdale Road run. This will be the first run of the winter season so please arrive at 5.40pm for a 5.50pm start. The run begins at the Harriers Clubrooms located at the sporting complex on the corner of Douglas Parade and Grubb Avenue. Every one of all ages and abilities are welcome.
