Riverslea Boulevard 5km

Traralgon Harriers Race Report 19.05.16

It was a balmy spring night for the Thursday night run, the beautiful weather had spirits high and plenty of people joining the relaxed run along Riverslea Boulevard. The three lap, 5 km circuit took in the sights of Riverslea Boulevard, Graduate Place and a small hill on Independent Way to conquer each lap around.

Newcomer to Harriers Thursday nights, Daniel Furmston ran a great time of 32.22, we look forward to seeing Daniel at future runs. It is great to see Renee Aghan, Debbie Henry, Kathy Quinn and Ray Ellis out doing some walking and running over the 5km building up their fitness and participating on the night. Megan Harper’s 3 yr old daughter Georgie Harper was back for her second run for the month, completing 1 lap in 17 minutes. Georgie was a little shy to cross the finish line but hopefully by the nearing summer series she will be running across the finish line with vigour!

The first female on handicap this week was Allison Triggs in 28.48 followed by Simone Forbes in 22.59 and Michelle Colwell in 29.16. The male runners led by Steve Oates in 2.26, Phill Mayer in 23.37 and Chris Vallak third in a time of 22.38.

The fastest three men on the night were only 6 seconds apart, they were Pete Sanders, Clinton Jolly and Glenn Graham who came home with times of 20.22, 20.24 and 20.28, respectively. Fastest ladies home were Karen Graham in 21.27, Molly Irvine in 22.13 and Georgia Pearson in 22.43.

Next week’s 5km run is on Phillip Street, Traralgon at 5.50 pm. If you are just starting out this course is an easy flat one to start your running with Harriers. There will also be a novice/junior run, so if you are just starting out come and have a go at the shorter course. Traralgon Harriers welcomes runners of all abilities, for details about club activities see our website
