Welcome to Traralgon Harriers Athletics Club Website

Traralgon Harriers is a running club for people of all ages and abilities. We aim to provide a fun, structured, supportive environment for new and experienced runners alike.

In addition to hosting our Thursday Night races, the club organises some of Victoria’s well known running events, including the Traralgon Marathon, the Walhalla Trail Run and our annual King of the Mountain.  While many of our events target the serious or more seasoned runner, we welcome people of all abilities.  Running with the Harriers means running for fun and enjoyment, and our fun, friendly approach makes the club a great option for anyone wanting to improve their fitness, their running and enjoy the company of like minded people.

Thursday Night Run/Walk

With the exception of two weeks over Christmas, you can run or walk with the Harriers every Thursday night.  See the calendar below for the location of the next outing.  You can find all of the Thursday race results on our Results Archive page (and some happy snaps on our Thursday night photos page).

Winter Social & Presentation Night

A great night was had at our winter social & presentation night on October 17th.  Trophies and medallions were presented to all the winners on the night with the coveted winter series being taken out by – Tanya Rong from Mandy Ellis and Hillary Meyer in the ladies and Pete Sanders from Steve McLeod and Darrel Cross in the mens.  Congratulations!

Give a Damn, Give a Can success

Wearing his Traralgon Central Rotary Club hat (figuratively speaking) Barry Higgins presented Harriers president Will Hanrahan with a certificate thanking the club for supporting the “Give a Damn, Give a Can” appeal.  About 8000 cans of food were collected for St Vincent de Paul to give to local families in need over the winter months.

Many thanks to the generous Harriers who dropped a can in the box on Thursday nights during May, and to Fay Tomholt for her help.

Traralgon Harriers awarded Club of the Year

kylie and toddThe Gippstar Awards were started by the Gippsland Sports Academy in 1962, originally recognising athletes and since expanding to include clubs, teams and those contributing to sport in an off field role.  The winners list for the senior and junior awards includes Olympians, world champions and Australian champions.  This year, our club joined the ranks – awarded the Club of the Year.  The club award is only in its 5th year and for Traralgon Harriers to win it from all of the sporting clubs across Gippsland is a huge honour.  It is a testament to all of the hard work that has gone on over the last few years building the club and continuing to run quality community events for runners/walkers of all abilities and support of local community services. Everyone who has volunteered their time to the club over the years is part of this award.  Pictured are Kylie Murray and Todd Houghton proudly accepting the award.

Congratulations Bruce

Congratulations to Bruce Salisbury who also received a Special Achievement Award as recognition for his volunteer contributions to Traralgon Harriers and Athletics over many years.  It is wonderful to see Bruce’s passion and commitment to running and the club recognised more broadly in the community.
